Do Your Homework Memes

Everyone has had one of those days in school when they just didn't do their homework, right? And if you did, you probably asked your friend if you could just copy off of theirs. Or maybe you were the friend that everybody copied off of (if that's the case, sorry about that!). If you or your friend wanted to be smart about it, they would've told you to just change some of the answers up a little and get a couple wrong so it wasn't obvious that you copied them. Sound familiar? The Internet has taken that entire situation and turned it into a meme trend in which they compare two things that are almost the same with some very, very minor changes. Ladies and gentleman, I give you 15 hilarious examples of the "Can I copy your homework?" memes.

15 No One Will Notice

https://twitter.com/directvibes/status/813532469106393088

I don't even know if this one really counts since the whole point of this music video was that Rupert looked like Ed. Does that make this one any less hilarious? Not at all. If you haven't seen the video for Ed Sheeran's "Lego House," you need to. It plays off of their super similar looks and casts Rupert Grint as a bit of a crazy stalker in the funniest way. And the set of that video is where the picture in this meme was taken.

People on the Internet are also apparently confused about whether or not Ed Sheeran played Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter movies. He didn't, if you're one of the people who was a little lost, but I don't really think the video helped their confusion.

14 Delicious

I love generic brand names of things. Sometimes they don't even try to make it very different, but the generic brands of I Can't Believe It's Not Butter take the cake for being the funniest ones. I know a name like "butter substitute spread" isn't very appealing, but do they all really need to play off of the original's name? I don't think so, but I'm personally pretty glad that they did.

Some of these weren't all that creative and didn't stray very far from the original product's name. Especially the ones like "Unbelievable This Is Not Butter" or "You'd Think It's Butter!" which basically just changed around a few words of the original product's name. The teacher is definitely gonna realize they just copied. Meanwhile, "Memories of Butter" went to a more existential place with theirs.

13 These Unique Movies

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who noticed this. Every time an animated movie comes out, I feel like there's a straight to DVD movie that's almost the exact same. Super similar name, really familiar cover, same basic idea... Unfortunately, the ripoff is always the one that gets put on Netflix almost immediately, too. So when I'm sitting here wanting to watch Frozen, I'm stuck with Frozen Land. Thanks, but I'm gonna have to pass.

I feel like the person in charge of getting the streaming rights for movies on Netflix is someone's well-meaning grandma. Like, she knows you want to see Brave and she sees Kiara the Brave and assumes they're the same movie and buys it for you. Thanks, grandma. I appreciate it.

12 This Remake

Maybe this is just because I'm not a big Spiderman fan, but do we really need another origin movie? Be honest. There are already two that are fairly recent and now they're making a third? Like I said, maybe it's just because I'm not a fan of those movies anway. Or maybe I would be a little less bitter about it existing if the rumors about Dylan O'Brien playing Spiderman had been real. Who knows. I'm glad the person who tweeted this agrees with me that they look so similar, though. At least I know I'm not the only person out there who thinks this is just unnecessary. I might actually want to watch it if they ever came out with a movie where he was already grown up and settled into being a superhero. I won't hold my breath about that being made though.

11 This Hit Game

Okay, whoever made Super Marlo Run missed a huge part of this. You're supposed to change what you do so it looks different and it's not obviously a blatant copy. No, changing one letter does not count. Especially when it still looks the exact same as the original name. Even making something like Super Maria Run and turning Mario into a girl would have been better than this. This one was just a lazy copy. Good to know that kids' movies aren't the only thing that suffer from the knockoff copies like this, though. At least those make an attempt to look like they're a slightly different movie. Super Marlo Run basically just traced the original.

Also, between Pokemon GO! and Super Mario Run, I'm beginning to think mobile phone games are trying to tell us something.

10 My Favorite Candy

Silly name on the generic brand or not, this taught me something: there are Swedish Fish that come in multiple colors! Are there different colors for different flavors? Or are they all the same flavor as the bags of all red ones? I've never seen them come in different colors like this before and my mind is honestly blown. I'm not really sure exactly what Swedish Fish are supposed to be, but I know that no matter what the flavor is, I love them. They always taste a tiny bit chalky, sometimes a little bit stale and not very chewy, and get stuck in my teeth for hours after I'm done eating them, but I can't stop.

This just made me want to try Trader Joe's version of them because I bet they're delicious. Nothing will replace their Peppermint Joe Joe's in my heart, though.

9 This Iconic Scene

Can I just say this was the best scene in any of the Toy Story movies? Because it was and I won't listen to anyone telling me otherwise. If, somehow, you don't remember it, then this was the part where Woody wakes up in the toy box. He opens the lid and looks around asking if anyone had seen his iconic cowboy hat. Then, that shark pops up wearing it and says, "I'm Woody! Howdy, howdy, howdy!" Woody fake laughs and takes his hat back. That was comedy gold as far as my childhood self was concerned. Quite frankly, my opinion on that hasn't changed throughout the years.

I may be biased by my love of this scene, but the way this Twitter user used it for this meme is just too funny.

8 These Totally Different Games

I have a confession to make, everyone. I'm not a very good video game fan because I haven't played or watched anyone play Overwatch yet. I couldn't even tell you what it's about, which I know is scandalous. I even have friends who don't play video games who ask me if I've played it or if I like it. And I have to tell them I have no idea because I haven't played and they're kind of confused, like, "You have three video game consoles, though. How have you not played it?" I don't know how I haven't, everyone else in the world has though.

I had to do a little bit of research on this one. Apparently these two games are, obviously as the meme suggests, super similar and fans of Overwatch are calling Paladins a knockoff. That's a little bit of a muddy area, though, because they were both apparently developed around the same time and inspired by the same things.

7 Can't Beat a Classic

I never even noticed this, but apparently it was a pretty big thing around the Internet when Taylor's "Bad Blood" video came out. People were saying that the video, especially the part shown in this person's tweet, looked a lot like Britney's "Toxic" and "Womanizer" videos. Was it on purpose as a tribute, or maybe trying to blatantly rip them off, or was it a coincidence? Who knows, but either way, Taylor fans and haters alike were all over social media comparing the two.

The trend of pointing out their similarities has obviously not died out for some people, like this Twitter user who used the meme as a chance to remind everyone. No matter what Taylor's intentions were with her version, nothing can beat "Toxic" as a song or a video.

6 This Meta Version

Whenever a new meme comes along, there's someone out there to make a meta version of it. It's just a matter of time. I'm pretty sure it's one of the life stages of a meme, right before it finds its way to Facebook where everyone's aunt uses it wrong. I love that since this one is just making fun of the way people title their works similarly, it's just a bunch of captions on top of each other. I don't know why this version of it is just hilarious to me; but the way it just gets smaller and smaller is making me laugh so much.

Not that there's really a ton of differences that people can make when they make their own versions of these memes. They basically all have to have minor or no changes to the words all the other memes use. Which is probably what makes this version of the meme even funnier.

5 These Creative Names

I love how some products get creative names when it comes to the generic brand. Dr. Pepper's generic brand names are usually almost the exact same as the original, though. Mr. Pibb, Dr. Bob, Dr. Skipper... The list goes on and on but they're always either a Dr. or a Mr. something, normally a pretty short word with some repeating letters like Pibb or Skipper. I can just imagine the marketing meetings when a brand is trying to come up with their own version of Dr. Pepper. "Welcome everyone, I have a few really great ideas. Okay, let me know what you think of these: Mr. Dibb, Dr. Pip, Dr. Mim..."

Also, how do they all get the Dr. Pepper taste right? I don't even know what flavor it is and generic brands manage to recreate it time and time again. I've Googled, but all anyone can guess is that the 23 flavors are some combination of cherry, almond, vanilla, amaretto, and "other flavors."

4 My Favorite Store

I feel like while Hot Topic is the store of every 14-year-old's dreams with band tshirts, Manic Panic hair dye, and studded belts straight out of 2004, Cool Topic would be a totally different store. It would be more like someone's 2017 Instagram feed. Lots of white and marble and rose gold. So, basically like Cool Topic's sign. And people would talk about how they shopped at Hot Topic in middle school but then they found a better photo editing app, figured out their Instagram theme, and started shopping at Cool Topic for crop tops and faux marble phone cases.

I Googled, but I can't find anything about an actual store called Cool Topic, so I'm not sure what that sign is from. Instead, I learned a lot about how Hot Topic went from being a store in the 90s that sold edgy accessories like spiked wristbands and punk band t-shirts to its current status as a seller of all things pop culture.

3 Who Wore it Better?

I have no idea why this picture was taken, but I need answers. I mean the one of James Franco with pink and blue hair looking like he regrets some of his choices, obviously. The one on the left is of Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn for the movie Suicide Squad. I'm guessing James' was some sort of funny Halloween costume or something, but the look on his face just makes this picture priceless. He looks like he just had the stylist at the salon spin his chair around after she finished his hair and he has to try to figure out how to pretend like he loves it until he can get home and cry. Who else has had a bad haircut like that? Everyone.

2 This Undeniable Comparison

I've been confused about The Middle for a while now. Is it supposed to be a blatant ripoff of Malcom in the Middle? Or was that just a coincidence and the producers thought people would't notice? I get sucked into watching it so often and the entire time I just wonder if no one else notices that it's just like a weird version of Malcom in the Middle. I'm glad to see that at least one person agrees with me that it's the exact same. Even down to the title, it's incredibly similar which means that I can't imagine that it was too much of an accident.

Still, I watch and laugh at The Middle because it's similar enough to Malcom in the Middle that it's still funny.

1 These Totally Different Characters

For anyone who didn't watch Teen Wolf on MTV, this one might not make a lot of sense. The show has quite a history of writing off characters and then adding a new one who is essentially the old character with some very minor changes. The left (or the original) is a character from the second season named Erica, who was killed in the third season when her actress left the show. Fans noticed that only a couple seasons later, the character in the left picture, Tracy, seemed really similar to Erica. This meme could have had a lot of pictures in the "copied homework" side because out of all the characters on the show, Erica has had the most characters who came as her replacement and then left again, only to be replaced by someone else.

Even if we're no longer in school, we all still have plenty of feelings about homework, the bane of our existence for so long. Who could forget the moment when we had to copy a friend's homework in a panic, doing our best to make it look at least a little different? And now there's a meme based on this very concept, which started with this tweet about 90's sitcom Living Single:

"can I copy your homework?"

"yeah just change it up a bit so it doesn't look obvious you copied"

"ok" pic.twitter.com/jU6P74w3z9
