Psya4 Schizophrenia Essays On Love

Phobic Disorders Predictions June 2016

Possibly my last set of predictions I’m going to do for this year. Just a disclaimer if you’re a student or teacher of this topic (or others);

These predictions are merely my own thoughts and opinions on what might come up for the Phobic disorders topic in PSYA4 for the June 2016 exams; I always advise learning everything just to be safe and this is what good students always do. Banking on merely my predictions is suicide. I tend to say this every time but even teachers are daft enough to think I advocate merely banking on my predictions (I don’t).

Lets see how this topic breaks down:

The table above is an overview of the PSYA4 exam paper and outlines what can be asked for the psychopathology section (section A) and the 4 topics you can choose to study – Here were looking at only phobic disorders but all the questions always follow the same style and pattern and only the topic itself varies. In total we have about 5 full essays to learn and a little bit for clinical characteristics of phobic disorders. In short – these are a walk in the park compared to PSYA3.

Unfortunately this topic wasn’t one of them as I was short on time (sorry!) but if you’re studying either Media psychology or Addiction for Section B – I got you covered for that with my essays which should make life easier. They are there if you need them.

My Phobic Disorders Predictions June 2016

So my prediction table is below and it highlights 3 essays I would definitely want to know going in. My June 2016 phobic disorder predictions are as follows:

So there’s 3 full essays I would prep for the most – obviously learn them all but 3 possibilities are jumping out at me but you have to remember that they can split the questions into 2 or even 3 if they wanted to. My focus would be on these particular essays:

  • Biological therapies for phobic disorders – This hasn’t made an appearance in 3 exam windows nor was it in the replacement paper. I think this has to be my frontrunner and most expected essay.
  • Issues surrounding the classification and diagnosis of phobic disorders – This question seems to be really overdue in a lot of the psychopathology topics and it feels like surely AQA can’t ask it across all of them right? Probably not but then again AQA love to throw curveballs recently..Either way I have to follow what this says and it says to me that a full essay on it has never appeared. The last appearance this question made was June 2013. This is my second choice essay I would go in having learn’t.
  • Clinical characteristics of phobic disorders – It can’t be a full essay and although it appeared in the replacement paper I would expect another small question on this in this exam window. I wasn’t going to include it because the mark value is so low but the table and my gut says it’s going to make another appearance worth a few marks.

The curveball is likely going to be:

  • Biological explanations of phobic disorders – Technically shouldn’t make an appearance and if it does It would be really harsh as it’s been only 1 exam window since it appeared. My gut say surely AQA can’t ask a question thats been asked 3 times already ? But this niggling feeling at the back of my mind after the Gender topic tells me this is our curveball question if AQA wanted to be awkward.

Anomalistic Psychology Predictions June 2016

My last predictions – I mean it this time! ;)

I want to wrap up with my last set of predictions with Anomalistic psychology for the June 2016 exams. As I always say learn everything to be safe and these predictions are by no means guaranteed to come up – merely my thoughts and opinions on what I would prep for and expect the most going into the exam. Learning only a handful of essays based on my predictions is suicide and a massive gamble so don’t do it.

Anomalistic Psychology Predictions June 2016

You have a total of 12 possible questions you can be asked in this topic – Although I love Media psychology personally, this is another topic teachers often enjoy teaching.

We have a few possibilities with some more overdue than others. I’ll list them in order of what I think can come up – just remember however you are not going to get a single full 24 mark essay for this but usually 2 or 3 questions broken down. With this in mind I’m going to give you a selection that I would personally focus on revising the most as they are overdue:

  • Explanations for magical thinking – This has only ever appeared once as a 10 marker 3 exam windows ago. Its a possibility in my eyes.
  • Pseudoscience and parapsychology – Appeared once only as a 4 marker way back in January 2013. Again its so overdue it’s another possibility.
  • The role of coincidence and or The role of probability judgements – These have usually come up as broad questions but I know they can come up alone too usually as a smaller one (in June 2012 it was a 4 marker as a single question). They did appear in the replacement paper PSYA4R last year but my gut is telling me to ignore that for this one. It didn’t appear in the main exam paper which many sat so I’m going to say it’s a possibility.
  • Psychic Healing explanations / Psychic Mediumship explanations – both can come up as 10 markers individually and they haven’t appeared in 2-3 exam windows ( not even in the replacement paper) – I would say psychic mediumship explanations is more overdue but either can appear at this point.
  • Explanations for superstitious behaviour – appeared as a 4 marker only in June 2014. The last of the ones I would revise as similarly with the others which have appeared only once – its probably overdue an appearance as a bigger question. I think the others are more likely but this shouldn’t be discounted.

This has narrowed it down to 7 essays out of 12 (almost half) that I would give the most focus to. If I tried to narrow it down any further it would be too risky so these are the ones I would focus on prepping the most out of all my 12 essays. Hopefully this makes it a little easier for you.
